Hello everyone,

Sunila & Aditi (aka Dots to Lines) here today with a Guest Design Post. We are so thrilled to be sharing a creation for this month's mood board for you all to play along with us.

Here's a look at the December mood board 

We've created two mixed media style layouts inspired by the beach vibes, the sand, shells and sun. We've used Kaisercraft Papers, die cut elements, assorted flowers, shells, Prima Marketing Gesso, Texture Paste, Lindy's Sprays and Embossing Powders.

Alter Book From Heidi Williams

Hello Soul Sisters

Today we have a Guest Designer with us.

Please help us welcome Heide Williams to the blog

Heidi has created an altered book using some yummy goodies from Art and Soul Studio

 Using a recycled book which she is going to use as an art journal, Heidi altered the cover.

 

 

 

She painted the book cover with gesso, added book pages and over the top she used stencils and texture paste.

She added some stamping, coloured paint.

Her last step was to add the gold paint for highlights

Guest Designer - Anne Cahill

Hello

Today we have another guest designer for this month, we have been very spoilt with 3, and will still have another post from the very talented Gwen to share with you in a couple of days.

 

Please help me welcome Anne Cahill back to the blog, she won the November challenge is our facebook group Soul Sisters.

 

 

 Firstly thank you to everyone who voted for my November Soul Sister Challenge Mixed Media contribution and thank you to the lovely Design Team for posting such awesome challenges for us to participate in.

 

In return for my winnings I would love to share the below with you all. Each year I create a design for my friends birthdays and they in return design a piece for me. We all have the same size journal which we created together earlier. The only rule we have is for the whole year we must use our same design for each of our friends and also create one for ourselves.

 

Even though the initial drawing is the same each time I create the piece it turns out differently as each friend has a different preference in colours and they can be created months apart so my taste and creative process can also change.

 

I created a quick little video to show the process of one of the pages I created and have also included photos of the four completed pieces.

 

There is nothing more special than taking the time to create for friends and it is even better when your birthday comes around and you receive some beautiful artwork which you can treasure forever.

 

I hope you enjoy my video and are inspired to do the same for some of your friends.

Anne Cahill - Guest Post

Hello All,

 

Today we are sharing with you our second guest designer for the month Anne Cahill.

Each month in our facebook group Soul Sisters there is a challenge that you can participate in. Anne was our October winner and using her haul from the store created an art journal page.

Let's find out a little bit more about Anne before we share the products she received what she created.

 

 

Through the day I am the Operations Co-Ordinator for our Electrical and Data Contracting business. Not the industry I ever imagined myself in but have found the past 20 years very rewarding. 

I have always been interested in arts and crafts for as long as I can remember, something my parents had always encouraged. I became more interested in drawing and painting around 2000 and have continued down the mixed media path letting the other crafts take a back seat. Acrylic paint and pencils would be my favourite but I am happy to use whatever is available.

I try to find time each week to sit and create, it lets me process the week’s events, clears my mind and lets me connect with other like-minded people.

Creating is so rewarding, it need not be expensive to get started just purchasing one colour here and there as you need it. I used my October winnings of the Soul Sister Challenge to purchase some Marabu Acrylic Art Sprays which I have used in a quick demo below.

When using my Dylusions or any non-permanent inks I would often get frustrated as I enjoy building layers, adding shadows etc. and if I decided it needed some additional touches it would move, blend or simply bleed through the top layers of paint altering the colour, never allowing for any bright pure highlights. As you will see, I use the spray in different ways not only as a spray. I like to add the contents of the spray bottles to tint acrylic paints, brush it on or rub it on. It goes a long way.

I was excited to try the acrylic inks and will be sure to use them in my future work.

Michelle Logan - Guest Post

Hi Everyone it’s Michelle Logan here and I am addicted to all things messy when it comes to creating. I live in suburban Melbourne in a male dominated household of 2 teens and a super craft tolerant hubby.

In a former life I was Physical Education Teacher (please don’t judge LOL!!!) until I came to my senses after 10 years!

I have always been into arty crafty things, I started out making cards and hoarding stamps (am yet to give up the hoarding part). I moved on to wedding invitations (after undertaking a calligraphy course) then scrapbooking (after my first fella’ was born), and now take on all manner of projects including art journaling, canvases, and anything off the page, as long as it’s messy I am in!

I am into all things, painty, inky and grungy, though I admit that I do struggle with feminine girly stuff! The colour purple and flowers really throw me out of my comfort zone. But I am willing to give anything a shot!

I have taught scrapbooking and art journal classes and have had the privilege of being a Scrapbooking Memories Master (2015) and before that a Scrapbook Creations Design Diva (2013/2014).

This is a handmade art journal using an A4 envelope that I painted as the cover….very simple and lots of fun!

 

Inside I have made a few pages (1 signature) out of scraps and watercolour paper….sort of like a junk journal. I have simply joined it all together using a basic pamphlet stitch.

 

For the decoration of the cover I just went to town using heaps of paint stencils and stamps….no thinking about the end result just lay that paint down …hence the Title.

 

hope you liked it…I even used Purple LOL!
