Let your passing be our lesson by Karen Arribas

Todays lesson was based on the recent passing of the last male northern white Rhino. It saddened me so much I wanted to do a painting as a remembrance to this amazing animal.

The techniques for todays lesson can be used a number of ways such as a painting, jewellery (using the rhino head) or even a t-shirt which is what I've decided to do.

 1. Firstly I drew a rough picture of a rhino head onto tracing paper.

2. I then traced more rhino heads and cut them out to make a pile.

3.With the pile of rhino heads I then stuck them all together to make a 3D image. I then used Jane Davenport watercolours Neutral palette to paint the Rhino head.

4. I then used darker colours for the contrast and coloured pencils for definition. I drew a circle in the background as I wanted to frame the head in some way.

5. Next step was to create some flowers I decided to use FW acrylic ink in turquoise and deep blue for the background to give it contrast.

6. I then used my fingers rather than brushes for the flowers because I like the natural results it produces. I used mainly KAISERcolour paints in a number of different shades of pinks, yellow and orange with dashes of white.

7. I used the FW Acrylic artist ink to paint a background.

8. I then added the flowers around the rim of the circle.

This is the final image and I wanted to see what it would look like on a t-shirt so I used a t-shirt mock up and used photoshop for the placement.
(this is a free stock t-shirt from https://blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/articles/15-free-psd-templates-mockup-t-shirt-designs)

Art Journal Page - by Lynn Good

Morning :)  Lynn here to share an art journal page that I have created using the fabulous products from the Art and Soul Store found here

Life in accounting is hectic in the month of July and this page represents how I have felt this month!

I began by putting random paint marks down on my art journal page.  I have used Golden High Flow Paints and Golden Acrylics.

I added highlights

and then added more colour

I then used a Scrap Fx stencil/mask  to create the people by blanking out the areas with brown and black acrylic ink.

Once I had the people in there, I added dimension by using a white paint pen to outline them and black distress ink to further enhance them.

Here are some close ups:

the words were added using a alpha stamp and white big brush pitt pen.

Thanks for stopping by and til next time - Happy Crafting :)

Soulful project by Lynn Good

Good morning, Lynn here to share an art journal layout I did for the soulful project this month.  The quote this month is:

Image may contain: text

I have created a dreamcatcher which I find are beautiful but mine has broken leaves - but to me it is still beautiful.  I have used the Golden Heavy Body Paints in this project.

I have used my Ranger Dina Wakley Media art journal.  I had a page that I had used to wipe off  excess paint from my brayer after making the fold out album - no paint goes to waste!!! I used a Dylusion Stencil - Old School Alpha Large and Golden Heavy Paint Iridescent Copper with a sponge

On the other half of the page I used Quinacridone Nickle Azo Gold.

Again nothing goes to waste - flip the stencil over and wipe it onto another blank art journal page.

I stamped onto some heavy watercolour paper feathers from the 49 & Market Feather Stamp set and paint the two golden paints and a contrasting yellow in the Vivid Ultra metallics.

I painted a circle with the Golden paints on my art journal page.

From here I glued down my feathers, added some black and white marks with Posca pens and wrote the quote around the circle.

Here are some close ups:

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have time to have a go at this months challenge quote.

Til next time - Happy Crafting :)
