Love Magic by Allara Bamforth

Hey Soul Sisters,

I'm up on the blog today with something a little different to what I normally create. When looking at all the fantastic products on the Art and Soul Studio website, I found some beautiful papers by 49 and Market from their Rusty Autumn collection that I just fell in love with and thought I would try and create something a little more traditional and pretty using this collection.

I've chosen the 49 and Market Rusty Autumn collection Blooming Autumn, Captivating and Charming for my base papers and to fussy cut the accents.

I've added the three layers of paper and I've use Clear gesso over the top to adde my mixed media layers.

Next I chose this beautiful chipboard piece by Dusty Attic - Birds on a Branch #3 and coated with some DecoArt Sand texture paste.

Next I coated the chipboard with Prima/Finnabair Art Extravagance Rust effect paste - Mint green. Then I used the same as above in Blue and then again with Brass.
This created a really nice layered rust effect.  I then stamped with white paint over the top to tone them down at bit with a script stamp. I finished this off with some watered down Lindy's Flat Fabio - Carribean Blue to highlight the birds and tie in the blue on my husbands shirt.

Before piecing the layout together and sticking it down, I have sponged through some Distress Oxide - Bundled Sage through a script stencil and lightly stamped a script stamp with Distress Oxide - Vintage Photo.

I've layered all my pieces together with the 49 and Market papers plus a few 7 Dots Studio Dreamscapes die cuts. Added to this was a little bit of left over packaging paper I had in my stash. Next I accented with some Prima Marketing Finnabair Glass Beads and some Faber Castell Glitter paste.

I then added a Kaisercraft Die cut and a Tim Holtz Quote Sticker. And finished off by lightly splattering some of the Lindy's Flat Fabio in Caribbean Blue watered down and then as is. I added the barcode strip from the paper as a quote at the very bottom because I just loved it.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. All the products I have used from Art and Soul Studio shop have been linked. I can't wait to use some of these products again.

Till next time,

Allara xx

Sparkle and Shine - Scrapbook/ Card Challenge - Allara Bamforth

Good Morning!

There is a fabulous mood board this month for the Scrapbooking/ Card Challenge called Sparkle and Shine add Tags and Chipboard.

I started off thinking I would possibly make a set of cards but after starting them and not really feeling where I was going with them - the cards turned into a page. Here is my process.

Firstly I pulled out some of my favourite colors Dylusions Paint Postbox Red, Tangerine Dream and Vanilla Custard, Dylusions Sprays Postbox Red, Squeezed Orange and Pure Sunshine and Distress Oxide Inks Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber. I pulled out some tags and prepared each tag with paint, spray and oxide ink by spraying or smearing the products on my surface and spritzing with water and dragging my tag through. The picture shows the difference in intensity of colours depending on the product.

Next I pulled out some Dylusions White Linen to background stamp some prepared black cards with 49 and Market Gabi's Patterned Texture Stamp.

I then stamped my gorgeous Carabelle - Oh la la stamp and embossed with Ranger embossing powders. The background of my stamps need some more interest so I stamped again with Gabi's Texture Stamp in corresponding colours, added some gold sparkle washi tape and a wing die cut.

This was a far as I got with the cards. I really was wowed by the intesity of the card with the Dylusions paint on the left and thought that I could used this as a centre piece for a layout as well. So recreating the swipe technique I used with the tags - I smeared the paint on my surface spritzed with water and dragged my black card stock through.

I loved the effect of some really intense sections and some washed out sections. Happy with this I used the Dylusions Vanilla Custard to splatter over the top.

Next I pulled out a packet of Vicki Boutin Diecuts and picked a picture from my dear friend Cherie's 40th Birthday and started laying out my design. I also decided to use the tag from the cards on my layout.

The page was coming together and I finished it off with some background stamping with Dylusions White linen paint watered down with Carabelle Background and Gabi's Texture stamp, used some Dylusions Squeezed Orange Spray to tone down the die cuts and finally added some left over Dusty Attic Fishnet chipboard, some stash flowers and Vicki Boutin Glitter

I really like how it turned out and whilst I started off with another idea - I allowed the creative process to take its own path and I think that's the beauty of going with the flow.

All products I've used from Art and Soul are linked back to the website through this post. I hope you join in on this months challenge.

Till next post,

Allara xx

Art Journal Page by Lynn Good

Hi Soul Sisters

What a first month it has been for the new design team.  So many lovely products by the girls.  I am here to share with you my very first post with the team -  an art journal page, as well an extra art journal page  that I created during the month.

I have created this double page in the Dina Wakeley Media Journal.   I had created the background a little while ago and wasnt sure what I was going to do with it.  This was created with Golden paints painted randomly on the pages and lastly adding some white paint with a brayer.

I have used the flower stencil - the mask part of the stencil and Dylusions Paint - Crushed Grape and chopped pesto.  Using a sponge I  cover the page with the exception of where I placed the masks.  Once dry I have used distress oxide Spiced Marmalade and a Tim Holtz Alphabet stencil over the top of the flowers.

Using a black and white paint pens I scribble around the flowers.

I used a kaisercraft script stencil and texture paste around the top of the flowers.

I have added this cute little deer and bird. I used a silhoutte image and coloured it in with golden paints.

Final touches with a black script stamp and splatters of white gesso.
