Hi All. I am very happy to present my inspirations on Art and Soul Studio blog. 

Today I have prepared for you a few tips on how to use the masks and sramps available online. See the pictures below:

I rubed Gelatos crayons firstly with fingers then water what made a smooth color transition.

I put a stencil on the surface and I stamp only empty space to get high quality picture.

I used gelli platte and acrylic paints to prepare a paper sheet which I used for stencil.

 I love to use my own pen doodles in my works. Sometimes I use fine-tip felt pen but it must be permament so that they don't smear too much.

'Colour' By Tanyalee Kahler

Hello Soul Sisters, I'm back again for another step by step tutorial. This time I am making a spread in a collaborative art journal that will be travelling around the country (and the world) between other Soul Sister artists. I can't wait to see the finished journal full of art.

 My spread is a bright, colourful spread using collage and gelliprint techniques.

I experimented with the use of a stamp on my gelliplate to create a unique floral texture, and it worked a treat.

The Jane Davenport napkins also made a beautiful, colourful base to my collage work.

Happy New Year and welcome to my first lesson for this year. I am thrilled to be asked back for a second term with Art and Soul.

Before I start this lesson I thought I'd put a list of what was used during the lesson:

Be careful though because there is a lot of wonderful stuff on there!

Now for this weeks lesson...........

Firstly I used a brayer to on Gel Press Impressables 7"x7" Embossed Gel Plate: REPEAT CIRCLES. I used a variety of acrylic paints from the Kaiser craft and JD range. 

I made a number of prints, the beauty of the Gelli prints is you can get a number of prints out of a little amount of paint.

I decided to use a small portion of what I printed and used Matte Gel to stick to some watercolour A4 paper.

I then decided to add various bit of collage paper such as Stamperia Rice Paper - White Roses & Gear Wheels 50cm x 50cm etc in the end most of it got covered but its the process I like and the bits of colour that come through the layers.

Next I used some Golden crackle paste through the middle of the design. 

To be honest this was the first time i'd used crackle paste. This particular one has very fine cracks that are great for a more subtle crackle look but they tended to get lost if I used too much acrylic paint on it, so using a little paint on a dry brush is probably better. I actually used a black ink pad here.

I used black gesso on the rest of the painting and then used the other end of the paint brush to add some marks to add extra texture.

Next I added blocks of various colours of acrylic paint and then used a black pencil to start outlining the flowers.

I then used white gesso and 7 Dots Studio - Dreamscapes - Triangles Stencil to add some interest. 

I wasn't happy with the black pencil so I used black indian ink to make the outline of the flowers more prominent.

The Jane Davenport white paint over pen is great for mark making such as dashes and dots.

Finally I used the Jane Davenport INKredible pen to write the quote.

I hope you like this lesson and it gives you some ideas for creating textures etc.

Gelli Love - Karen Arribas

Hello art lovers, I hope you have had a lovely weekend? and here is an art lesson to top it off.

Today I'll be doing a post producing a picture from Gelli Printing (My new favourite!). To start with you will need a Gelli Print (mine is a large format 8x10) you can use any size you feel comfortable with.
I used some A6 card to print on and a brayer to spread the paint around.

Materials used:
Gel Press 8X10
Various Acrylic paints (if you are looking for some cheap acrylics kaisercraft paints are a good option)
Brayer (any size)
A6 plain card
Black Archival ink
Turquoise - Dylusion spray
Kaisercraft  clear stamp- Script
JD stamp - it comes with her paint set, but you can use any stencil you like.

Firstly I produced some grey backgrounds using black, white and yellow pink acrylic (any brand will do, but I prefer using the cheaper ones to experiment with at first). I made some simple circles and marks using the other end of the brush to add interest. 

I then used some of the card to pull some prints, I just use the my hand to rub on the back. The Gelli print really grips the paint and makes really interesting marks.

 Secondly I made some more print using coloured acrylic (warm yellow and red) to to add some interest I also used the aqua marine Dylusion spray.

I created a number of different backgrounds using different stencils.

Once you have a good number of backgrounds you can start cutting out the shape of the houses and windows.

I then got some archival black ink and outlined the houses and windows I also used the kaisercraft script clear stamp and printed in random places to add more interest. I also used a black pencil to add some birds on wires.
