Mixed Media Cards by Dutt Preety (Challenge Inspiration)

Hi friends :)
Good Morning !

Today, I'd like to share Two Mixed Media Cards
These are my inspiration for the March Challenge.
I was inspired by the colors in the moodboard & I've added feathers as well as die cut leaves on my cards.
We hope you'll join the challenge as there are fabulous prizes on offer.
All the details about the challenge can be found HERE.
Let’s get started.

Mixed Media Cards

Card 1- Inspire

Card 2- Create

Process:

Step 1: Cut pattern papers from 7 Dots Studio's Paint Chips collection, applied clear gesso to them to prepare them for mixed media work. Then applied modelling paste through a 13 arts stencil on the card panels & while the paste was still wet, sprinkled on white embossing powder & heat embossed it.

Step 2: Did background stamping with Aall & Create stamps using versamark watermark ink & then sprinkled on blue embossing powder & heat embossed the stamped images.

Step 3: Added color to the background using Lindy's Gang Sprays & Squirts.

Step 4: Stamped the butterfly & dragon fly images, watercolored them using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and fussy cut them

Step 5: Collected all the elements for layering including diecut leaves, fussy cut images, gauze & feathers. Adhered them using matte gel.

Step 6: Adhered art stones, mini beads & glitter around the main composition using matte gel. Added Tim Holtz stickers as the sentiments & created white splatter using watered down white gesso.

Step 7: In the end, foam mounted the panels on black mats & then adhered these to white card bases.

Set of Nature Inspired Cards by Dutt Preety

Hi friends :)
Good Morning !

Today, I'd like to share a Set of Nature Inspired Cards
These are fairly simple to make & great for giving to friends & relatives during happy occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.
For these cards, I've distressed the edges of the papers and added flowers, pollens & sisal for texture. I hope you'll join the January Challenge where the theme is to "Use Texture". We have awesome prizes on offer. All the details about the challenge can be found HERE & you can add your textured creations on facebook, HERE

 Set of Nature Inspired Cards

Card 1: Beautiful Day

Card 2: Make A Wish

Process:

I've used some pretty decoupage papers from my stash (by Bob n Betty), you can use which ever scrapbooking papers you like best, Art & Soul Studio has a huge collection of pretty papers (I will link some below in the products list), cut them to 4.25 inches by 6.25 inches in size and distress their edges using a paper distressor tool, this creates a subtle textured look. Then applied clear gesso on this paper. After that, I created 2 mats for the panel, each 0.25 inches bigger than the last one, distressed their edges as well. The card is 5 by 7 inches in size, I scored it using a Bone Folder. Then adhered the panel to the first mat using foam tape & all the other layers too using liquid glue. For the floral clusters, I used flowers, pollen & sisal adhered down with gel medium & in the end, I added sentiment stickers.

The Girls by Suzanne Franin

Hey Everyone Suzanne here

This is my take on the RED Mood Board challenge

This is my daughter and her girls on her wedding night by this stage they were very merry and had enjoyed the evening

This months Challenge is RED
The mood board bellow is for inspiration and you can use that as a starting point but you MUST use RED
There are 3 x $50 vouchers to win
One for a card
One for a layout
One for a journal page/mixed media project
Check out the Art and Soul Mixed Media Blog for more Details
And make sure to share your project to the Soul Sisters Facebook Group for the chance to win

Some of the metal I was lucky enough to have leftover from doing Finnabair's classes in early November I flew up to Hervey Bay just to do the classes and meet Annette and Amanda and was lucky enough to meet lots of other lovely ladies too
And of course meet my Mixed Media Idol Finn what a beautiful soul so down to earth and she was so patient with everyone wanting photos and autographs (I didn't do either I felt bad to ask)

Thats how I found out about the embellishments under the glass counter and a few other bits that haven't made it to the website - there are SO many things in the store so if you're after something check with them and you never know they may have it that's why sometimes I may use something that's not on the site

so as you can see all my pieces are painted red I started off by painting them with clear gesso
Then painted them with Finnabair's Acrylic Metallique Royal Red and it wasn't quite the colour I wanted so I added a coat of the Red Wine over the top it's so rich not that you can tell by the photos

I used the Dusty Attic Mandala Stencil with some Finnabair Heavy Body Gel when it dried I painted it the same as the embellishments

The metal embellishments are a mix of Finnabair mechanicals, Art and Soul Studio (from under he glass counter make sure to take a look) and the large flower is a Little Birdie Sharon Cherry

Heres a close up of the little bird in the cage - the place the wedding was held is called the Budgie Smuggler so I had to put a bird there (they have a huge cage of budgies as you walk in it's so cool)
The Pearls underneath are from Frank Garcia Memory Hardware Pearls

This is one of the embellishments that live under the glass counter (they are all silver to start with)

I used Finnabair's Art Alchemy Metallique Wax in Old Silver over the top of everything to show all the details some of it is just from how the paint strokes left their mark

I love the Little Birdie Flowers they are textured so when I rubbed the wax it enhanced the texture

I used Finnabair's Art Pebbles on the page these are so versatile and make great space fillers
I used the was on these after painting them with the clear gesso first

Moment in Time by Kristy Abela - September Mood Board Challenge

Welcome back to another mood board challenge. My personal favourite colours are coppers and teals when crafting... My collections dominates my shelves.

This is the regular crew at my place, my sons and their best mates... can you pick who are mine and who's not???
Please forgive me for bending the rules... I used a Dragonfly!
Check our some process shots below..

Some texture for the background

Some Lindy's sprays and a bit of dry brushing with White Gesso.

Highlighting the depth with a charcoal pencil.

Lots of embossing with Lindy's of Scrap FX chipboards and a bit of a highlight with some Prima Waxes.

I used some rust pastes on some of the pieces as well to give it the rustic look. I finished off the patina with some blue waxes.
Added some stones and some beads and a couple of metal charms from my stash.

My favourite part of the whole project is the way this dragonfly turned out...
The way the wings took on the graduation of colour was perfection!
Thanks for looking Soul Sisters!
